Contrary to popular opinion, sexual exploitation harms many more people than the prostitutes we see in the street. It’s a process of seduction and grooming that uses luxury gifts to lure and dupe innocent victims. And all this starts at age 12 – or even earlier. Without ever stigmatising the victims, what was at issue was bringing help to persons who were immediately concerned and to make the general public aware of the problem and raise it to a level of national concern.
